• Plenty of Fire Starter sources (flint/steel, wet matches, lighters)

• Life Straws (allows you to drink dirty water safely)

• Maps of your local area and state

• Medical Supplies…

• Prescription meds (as needed)

• High Calorie foods, maybe peanuts, jar of peanut butter, flavored calorie tablets

• Solar/crank flashlights/radio

• Walkie Talkies

• Small tools, Swiss Army knife, axe, machete, etc

• waterproof bags that you can carry your essential documents with you.

This is if you’re at home and the grid has gone down, there’s a long-term blackout… and it’s likely it will take weeks/months for things to get better.

One thing people should innerstand right off the bat is that if a major event occurred that affected the supply chain infrastructure, your local grocery stores would be wiped clean in a matter of days.

I would start off by saying that being in a major city, like New York, would be far more dangerous to survive than the suburbs of PA if we’re talking weeks/months.

I would recommend identifying a relative or close friend who lives in a rural or suburban area outside city limits you can go to, if facing longterm instability.

• Food and water are obviously on top of the list.

5) Are you going to use your ultralight tarp, your inflatable sleeping pad, your sleeping bag, your axe, your machete, etc. in the hotel? No, you are not.
