2039: The Return of the Guardians
In the year 2039, when Earth faced its greatest threat ever, it was the Guardians from PB18 and their allies who rose to save the planet. An unknown hostile armada from another universe had invaded, armed with technology far beyond humanity's comprehension. They arrived with the intention of destroying and plundering Earth's resources. But what they didn’t realize was that the Guardians, with their deep understanding of the forces of the universe, had been preparing Earth’s defenses for eons.
The Guardians, with their superior knowledge of neutrinos and other subatomic particles, used these invisible forces to strengthen their defense against the armada. Neutrinos, first observed by humanity in 1956 by physicists Clyde Cowan and Frederick Reines near a nuclear reactor, were part of a larger plan. What scientists never knew was that a being from an advanced civilization had arrived on Earth as early as 1952. This being played a crucial role in conveying knowledge about neutrinos and subatomic forces to the Guardians and their allies. Through this cooperation, the Guardians built their defense system, based on these particles, which would prove essential in the final battle.
When the hostile armada attacked in 2039, Earth was protected by more than just technology. The Guardians used their understanding of neutrinos and other forces to create an energy wave that annihilated the enemy’s ships at a subatomic level. By manipulating these particles, which can pass through matter without interacting, they created a wave of energy that dissolved the enemy ships into their most basic components. The ships were broken down on an atomic level, obliterated in a powerful explosion of light and energy that swept everything away in its path.
With their advanced technology, the Guardians’ ships could move through both time and space without constraints. They were not bound by the physical laws that govern human life. Their ships could travel through matter as if it didn’t exist, and they themselves could literally merge their atoms and pass through objects with ease. What made the Guardians’ view of humanity particularly tragic was our inability to understand this. To them, it was incomprehensible that humans still believed they could physically touch one another. In reality, no physical contact occurs between humans because the electrons in their atoms repel each other according to Coulomb's law. Pauli’s exclusion principle also prevents electrons from sharing the same quantum state, meaning that the “touch” we experience is merely an illusion, a result of forces acting at a distance. For the Guardians and their allies, this is a tragic sign of our limited understanding of the forces of the universe.
Humans also didn’t realize that billions of neutrinos pass through their bodies every second, invisible and without interacting with matter. To the Guardians, this was another indication of humanity’s limited awareness. These particles, which had been an integral part of the Guardians’ technology for eons, were still a mystery to us.

The particle, which violated the so-called GZK limit and did not lose energy when it should have, was actually a result of the Guardians' interactions with the universe. In August 2024, NASA made another important discovery. Through its Endurance mission, scientists were able to confirm the existence of the ambipolar electric field, a field that covers the entire Earth and protects the atmosphere from escaping into space. This field, long a theoretical construct, was shown to play a crucial role in maintaining the planet’s atmosphere. They had secretly installed it as a protective mechanism to preserve Earth's stability and defend the planet from external threats.
When the final battle against the hostile armada took place in 2039, it was this ambipolar field, along with the Guardians’ subatomic technology, that saved Earth. The armada couldn’t penetrate the Guardians’ defenses, and with their advanced knowledge of neutrinos and other particles, the Guardians created the energy wave that destroyed the enemy ships. The hostile force never stood a chance against these forces they couldn’t even comprehend.
For humanity, the rescue was miraculous. They only saw the overwhelming light from the energy that radiated from the Guardians’ ships and obliterated the enemy. But they didn’t understand that it was the Guardians' knowledge, developed over eons, of the forces of the universe—forces that humanity could barely grasp—that made it possible. Their ability to manipulate atoms and neutrinos, to move through time and space without limits, was something humanity could not yet imagine.
And while Earth was saved, the Guardians' sorrow remained clear. For they saw a species that, despite its technological progress, was still trapped in the illusion of touch, unable to comprehend the deeper forces that govern everything around us. The Guardians saw our potential, but they also saw how far we still had to go before we could understand the true nature of the universe.
