LET'S TALK PANIC ATTACKS...
That horrible feeling of trying to catch a breath & slow everything down, feeling your heart pounding in your chest. Mind racing desperately trying to find a way out, to escape.
Feeling sick.
Shaking.
And then living in fear of the next one...

THIS ISN'T A LONG TERM CONDITION!
This is a survival mechanism.
Your heart races to pump blood & oxygen faster to the muscles preparing you to fight or run away. You breathe faster to take in more oxygen. Your mind races in the search for safety. This is how you would escape a REAL LIFE DANGER.
Why do we have them when there is no real danger?
It can be a build up of stress over time, a traumatic event, a natural disaster.. anything that causes uncertainty or overwhelm.
Your body will still produce the fight/flight hormones that produce these symptoms.
If we don't have the distraction of a real threat, we ponder on the symptoms, focusing on them & fearing them.. the symptoms then become the threat, creating a vicious circle of repeated panic attacks.
When we have too many, our nervous system becomes untrusting of what is now truly safe so we become uneasy in lots of other situations even though our rational mind knows there's nothing to fear. It's the feeling uneasy that brings on more panic as we just can't put our finger on why we feel this way.
We get stuck. We don't know how to fix it.
Let me reassure you that you aren't permanently stuck. You just need more educating on how to get out of the vicious circle.
