Erin M. Collins serves as the National Taxpayer Advocate and head of the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS), an independent organization within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Appointed by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in February 2020 and beginning her term in March 2020, she is the third person to hold this position, succeeding Nina E. Olson.

As the "Voice of the Taxpayer," Collins oversees approximately 80 nationwide TAS offices that provide one-on-one assistance to struggling filers and businesses
She reports annually to Congress on the agency's biggest problems and presents legislative proposals to address significant burdens on taxpayers.

Collins brings over 35 years of experience in tax law, including 15 years as an attorney in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel and 20 years at KPMG LLP, where she retired in 2019 as the Tax Managing Director for its tax controversy practice in the Western region.
