• According to reports from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), the construction of this gas station ended up costing around $43 million between 2011 and 2014. 

—— a similar station in Pakistan was reported to cost around $500,000. 

• When called out, The Department of Defense responded by stating that the task force had been dissolved…

—— they no longer had personnel who could explain the project's financials costs… Convenient…

—— They also claimed to have offered SIGAR access to relevant documents, although this was contested by SIGAR.
